First we find the area of the rectangle. Area of a rectangle = length * width. 

The width is 19 as given. The length is the the diameter of the circle. The diameter of the circle is 2 * the radius. They give us the radius of 6. 

19 * (2*6) = 19(12) = 228

Now we find the area of the circle. Half the circle however is already included in the area for the rectangle so we will use the area of the circle formula of: A = [tex] \pi [/tex]r² and divide it by 2.

A = [tex] \pi [/tex](6)² = 36[tex] \pi [/tex]

Now divide it by 2 and simplify

36[tex] \pi [/tex] / 2 = 18[tex] \pi [/tex]. Leave this way until we are at the end.

Now put the two together.

228 + 18[tex] \pi [/tex]. Put this into your calculator to see the exact answer. The one I will give is an approximation.

Area of the entire shaded area is approximately (≈) 284.549 ft² or 284.549 square feet.
